Yreka’s Historic Carnegie Building Goes Solar

Callahan Solar, The Ausland Group and the Pacific Power Blue Sky and Wattsmart incentives are recognized for their leadership in delivering solar and energy efficiency upgrades to Yreka’s historic Carnegie Building.

The Siskiyou Economic Development Council (SEDC) applied for a Blue Sky solar award with Pacific Power, to design and locate a solar array in downtown Yreka. A new solar array and back up battery system is now a central feature of a new business innovation campus, opening in October 2025. The complete project, led by the SEDC, also includes Energy Star appliances, and upgraded LED lighting, which is expected to qualify for Pacific Power’s Wattsmart incentive. When the campus is open, the solar array will serve as an educational exhibit for energy resiliency and cost savings, in a rural context. The array was connected on June 30th, marking a significant milestone in the project to return the 400 block of Yreka’s historic Miner Street into a hub for downtown activity.
