The 400 Block Project: New Life for a Mid-Century Landmark
In 2024, the Siskiyou Economic Development Council (SEDC) purchased 404 W Miner Street—an adjacent property to the historic Carnegie Building—to expand its vision for a thriving business innovation campus in downtown Yreka.
Remediation and demolition were underway this week, to transform the former mid-century cinder block building into a vibrant new asset. Once complete, the reimagined building will feature a community great room, a Siskiyou Farm Co retail hub, and an outdoor market plaza.
This transformation is part of the SEDC’s broader effort to return walkability, connection, and investment to the 400 Block of Miner Street. The building will open in October 2025 as a key component of the innovation campus, led by the SEDC.
