Foundation Support Reaches Siskiyou's Farmers Markets

Six markets operate seasonally in Siskiyou County in a coordinated effort to market grains, produce, and proteins raised in Siskiyou County. There are as many as 60 farms and ranches selling at local markets or online. The local food ecosystem is key during the pandemic. Since March, several local foundations have provided assistance to Farmers Markets and Siskiyou residents, to help.

County Announces CRF Business Grant Program

On August 4, 2020, the County of Siskiyou Board of Supervisors allocated $1.5 million of State of California Coronavirus Relief Funds (CRF) to support economic and community resiliency, and offset COVID-19 related economic hardships and disruptions to local businesses. The goal of the Program is to provide a temporary source of emergency capital to help local, businesses sustain operations and address unforeseen financial impacts. Eligible, qualified businesses are encouraged to apply for up to $10,000 in grant assistance.

Shop Safe, Shop Local

The Siskiyou Small Business Development Center (SBDC) and the Jefferson Economic Development Institute (JEDI) are working together to distribute PPE to several hundred Siskiyou County small businesses. Approximately 160,740 state-allocated surgical masks and 1,311 gallons of hand sanitizer have been made available to California small businesses through the California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services (CalOES) in collaboration with the Office of the Small Business Advocate (CalOSBA).
