Siskiyou Resiliency: Paving the Way for Prosperity

2021 Final Resilency Plan.png

In response to 2017 wildfires, the U.S. Economic Development Administration (EDA) took action to help Siskiyou County become more resilient in response to rapidly changing economic conditions. Recognizing the need for a regional approach, the Siskiyou Economic Development Council partnered with industry leaders, elected officials, and the EDA to develop a regional strategy to mitigate disaster-related losses and impacts on Siskiyou County’s rural communities. The regional planning occurred during the global pandemic, providing the team with new awareness of Siskiyou County’s economic vulnerabilities, particularly in the small business sector.

The Siskiyou EDC is sharing project outcomes in the 2021 Regional Resiliency Plan. The plan serves as a working guide to help businesses, industries, elected officials, and economic leaders leverage long-term strategies to strengthen and benefit our communities and businesses.

Project milestones include nine focus areas, an analysis of regional strengths and weaknesses, key takeaways, and city and town statistics. The twenty-seven page document provides an optimistic forecast for Siskiyou County and presents several strategies that our region can leverage for a prosperous future.

We offer immense gratitude to the U.S. Economic Development Administration (EDA), our local businesses, economic organizations, and stakeholders whose input enriched the planning process and helped create a path for the future of Siskiyou County.
