Siskiyou Economic Development

Quality of Life

Welcome to Siskiyou.

California’s North.

Located at the top of the state, we are adventurous, daring, and uniquely Californian. We take great pride in our community and our county. Ask any of us, and we’ll tell you that there’s no better place in the world to live, explore, experience, and just be.

We enjoy an exceptional quality of life thanks to a combination of affordable housing, first-rate educational opportunities, a qualified workforce, and advanced medical facilities, all in an area rich in recreational activities.

A great benefit to living in Siskiyou is lifestyle; the quality of life. How great to be in a community such as Mt. Shasta or Dunsmuir or even McCloud where you can still do all the work that you need to do but in 10-15 min be on a ski lift.
— Kevin Charter, Financial Advisor, Edward Jones, Mount Shasta.

Affordable Lifestyle

Siskiyou offers some of the most affordable housing in the state; the cost of living is well below the state average. Our network of cities and small towns can satisfy the craving for community while the county's many wide-open spaces fulfill the need for solitude.

The cost of living here is quite attractive and we attract professionals who want to be able hike, ski, and enjoy all the outdoors activity but still continue to be able to develop their career.
— Cael Weston, Acme Computer

Siskiyou boasts fourteen thousand foot Mt. Shasta, a ski park, wilderness areas, mountain lakes, and year-round recreation opportunities, providing a very high-quality of life. We have an excellent K-12 school system, a nearby community college, and are near private colleges and state universities.

With Mount Shasta anchoring the views and the recreation, outdoor lovers will find a host of activities. Access to the Pacific Crest Trail and the Marble Mountain Wilderness lure hiking enthusiasts. Fishing, hunting, river rafting and cycling opportunities abound throughout the county. To learn more visit
