SCEDC receives Pacific Power grant for Industry Study

A recent meeting at the Mount Shasta Resort brought together the senior management team from Pacific Power, including the President and CEO Pat Reiten, the Siskiyou County Economic Development Council Board and staff, City and County representatives as well as representatives from key Siskiyou County businesses.   In addition to being part of Pacific Power’s quarterly County visits, they presented to the SCEDC a grant award of $20,000 for a Targeted Industry Study.

Pacific Power has long been a major supporter for economic development in Siskiyou County. Pacific Power’s Regional Community Manager, Toby Freeman has served on the SCEDC Board of Directors for four years.  With additional support from the City of Yreka and the City of Mount Shasta, the SCEDC will proceed with a study that will identify opportunities for commercial and industrial development of targeted sites located in the I-5 corridor. The Community Development Block Grant Award to the City of Montague will provide a similar study specific to the Montague Industrial Park.

This Targeted Industry Study will provide valuable industry data, a leakage analysis that identifies opportunities leaving the County, site-specific information, and a marketing plan to better help our communities promote their industrial properties to prospective industry clients.  “The SCEDC thanks Pacific Power on behalf of our jurisdictions for its generous support and commitment to Siskiyou County Economic Development,” said SCEDC Executive Director Tonya Dowse.
