[YREKA], - The Siskiyou County Economic Development Council (SCEDC) announced today that it has received a $35,000 grant from Pacific Power for marketing efforts in the county. In addition to the grant, Pacific Power will partner with the EDC on a strategic planning session with local business to help develop a new community marketing strategy.
The grant funds are intended to be used to create a promotional DVD and printed materials including brochures, designed to target complimentary industry and commerce for the region. “We can’t say thank you enough to Pacific Power for this generous grant,” said Tonya Dowse executive director of SCEDC. “They are truly great partners of the EDC and our communities.” The grant funding will also be used to attend economic development trade-shows to recruit business to Siskiyou County. “We are very committed to partnering with the communities we serve and working with them to grow economic opportunities,” noted Toby Freeman with Pacific Power.
In coordination with the grant funding, Pacific Power will be bringing in Paul Vogel who is the company’s Managing Director of Public Affairs and Strategic Initiatives to work with the EDC on a renewed strategy. Paul is responsible for providing strategic external and issues communications support throughout Pacific Power’s service territory to further the company’s relationships with key businesses, the media, customers, and government and community leaders. Prior to joining Pacific Power, Paul spent two decades in rural and economic development and marketing.
Also participating in the session will be Eric Andersson the Economic Development Manager for Pacific Power. Eric joined Pacific Power as Economic Development Manager in February 2007, after four years in Oregon’s Governor's Office Economic Revitalization Team. Andersson has also spent many years working in economic development on the local level as well as in the private sector. “This is an exciting time for us at the EDC, our partnership with Pacific Power and this planning session will be very advantageous as we move forward in this emerging economy,” said Dowse. “This isn’t a onetime shot, this is an investment and a long-term commitment,” added Freeman, “this is one way we can work together to ensure a strong future for all of us.”
