Siskiyou Climate Collaborative

Our Story

The Siskiyou Climate Collaborative (SCC) is working to help a broad community network pursue planning and funding opportunities, that will better prepare us for the wildfires, droughts, and extreme climate events that bring devastation, with greater intensity each year. The SEDC is one of six awardees to receive Round One, Regional Climate Collaborative funding, provided by the California Strategic Growth Council. The competitive award aims to help under-resourced communities across California invest in community-led capacity building to access statewide public and other grant moneys for climate resiliency planning and projects.

Project Partners

The Collaborative unites partners from natural resources, agriculture, outdoor recreation, workforce and tribal expertise. Collaborative stakeholders are committed to inclusive and equitable planning to seek solutions for Siskiyou County’s diverse working landscape.

  • Siskiyou Economic Development Council

  • Shasta Valley Resource Conservation District

  • UC Cooperative Extension, Siskiyou

  • Siskiyou County SMART Workforce Center

  • Siskiyou Outdoor Recreation Alliance

Individual and Community Meetings

Listening sessions and a minimum of four (4) community meetings will be held to understand shared, experiences related to climate.

A Toolkit for Capacity Building

The collaborative will convene expertise and resources to help Siskiyou individuals, communities, and businesses advance priority projects.

A Climate Resiliency Plan

A climate resiliency plan, several community specific plans, and a labor market analysis, authored by the collaborative, will help Siskiyou prioritize projects and access future funding.

Activities for Workforce and Anti-Displacement

We will create activities and training to help Siskiyou withstand and recover from climate-related events and reduce vulnerability to displacement.
